At Compelling Minds we specialise in creating customised content management systems for our clients. We have a wealth of user experience, gleaned from the Publishing, Medical and Education sectors, so we know what works and what doesn't.

Dispelling the Myth

It is often assumed that out-of-the-box solutions are the most cost effective.

It is true that many of these solutions are scalable, as they are modular based allowing customers to extend their site as their requirements evolve. That said, we know from experience that everybody's requirements differ, and pigeon-holing them into pre-defined modules is often too restrictive.

Bespoke development on these solutions can be very expensive and ongoing licensing costs should also be investigated carefully.

What makes us different?

We use an open source web development framework, which allows us to quickly create a customised CMS that meets your requirements to the letter.

In this approach we use a set of generic code libraries that act as the equivalent of the modules that you find in out-of-the-box solutions, except that these libraries are 100% customisable for each client.

Why open source?

Many of our clients come to us because they want to move their existing website to a new platform. This can be because they require more functionality and flexibility or because they need to change supplier.

All of the software that makes up the products that we develop for our clients is either open source or written by our own developers. This means that there are no licensing costs.

At Compelling Minds, we want to help you by providing a package that meets all of your requirements and by using open source software we are giving you complete freedom over the management of the CMS after the development is complete. We offer a fantastic maintenance contract ourselves, but our approach gives you the flexibility to maintain the system in-house or take a maintenance contract to tender if you wish.
